Web accessibility is a key aspect in the digital world that enables all users, including those with disabilities, to access and navigate websites effectively. It not only ensures equal access to information, but also enhances the user experience[1] and boosts website[2] traffic. Core elements of web accessibility include meaningful HTML[3] coding, textual equivalents for images, compatibility with assistive technologies, and a consistent navigation structure. The impact of web accessibility is significant, fostering inclusivity and diversity, and increasing user engagement. Legally, there are several requirements for web accessibility, including ADA Title III, Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act, WCAG, and the European Accessibility Act. Non-compliance can result in penalties. To aid in achieving web accessibility, various tools and resources are available such as screen readers, color contrast checkers, and keyboard navigation testing tools.

1. user experience. User Experience (UX) is a broad term that encompasses every aspect of an end-user's interaction with a company, its services, or its products. This includes users' perceptions and responses, both emotional and cognitive, during and after the use of a system, product, or service. User Experience also involves users' beliefs, preferences, and behaviors. While usability, a component of UX, focuses on the practical aspects of a system, UX incorporates a holistic view of system use. User experience is a vital factor in increasing brand loyalty and customer base growth. Its history dates back to the Machine Age, with notable contributions from figures like Frederick Winslow Taylor, Henry Ford, and Donald Norman. Today, technology advancements continue to shape and expand the field.Developer Experience (DX) is the analog of UX for software developers. It represents the experience developers have with the tools, processes, and software they use in their work. A high-quality DX can significantly impact the overall user experience, thus contributing to the success of the product. The importance of DX is increasingly recognized in the field of software services, where ease of use can serve as a key market differentiator. This concept has been explored by various authors and researchers, and it's also emphasized in international standards like ISO 9241-210, which advocates for human-centered design.

A website is a collection of interconnected web pages, usually including a homepage, located on the same server and prepared and maintained as a collection of data by a person, group, or organization. Websites are a cornerstone of the internet, serving as hubs for information, commerce, communication, and entertainment. They can have various forms such as business sites, gaming sites, academic platforms, or social networking sites. Websites have evolved over time, from text and static images to dynamic, interactive multimedia platforms. The development and functionality of websites are governed by web standards set by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). Websites are also influenced by advancements in web server technology and design principles such as responsive design.

Web accessibility, or eAccessibility, is the inclusive practice of ensuring there are no barriers that prevent interaction with, or access to, websites on the World Wide Web by people with physical disabilities, situational disabilities, and socio-economic restrictions on bandwidth and speed. When sites are correctly designed, developed and edited, more users have equal access to information and functionality.

For example, when a site is coded with semantically meaningful HTML, with textual equivalents provided for images and with links named meaningfully, this helps blind users using text-to-speech software and/or text-to-Braille hardware. When text and images are large and/or enlargeable, it is easier for users with poor sight to read and understand the content. When links are underlined (or otherwise differentiated) as well as colored, this ensures that color blind users will be able to notice them. When clickable links and areas are large, this helps users who cannot control a mouse with precision. When pages are not coded in a way that hinders navigation by means of the keyboard alone, or a single switch access device alone, this helps users who cannot use a mouse or even a standard keyboard. When videos are closed captioned, chaptered, or a sign language version is available, deaf and hard-of-hearing users can understand the video. When flashing effects are avoided or made optional, users prone to seizures caused by these effects are not put at risk. And when content is written in plain language and illustrated with instructional diagrams and animations, users with dyslexia and learning difficulties are better able to understand the content. When sites are correctly built and maintained, all of these users can be accommodated without decreasing the usability of the site for non-disabled users.

Accessibility is not confined to the list above, rather it extends to anyone who is experiencing any permanent, temporary or situational disability. Situational disability refers to someone who may be experiencing a boundary based on the current experience. For example, a person may be situationally one-handed if they are carrying a baby. Web accessibility should be mindful of users experiencing a wide variety of barriers. According to a 2018 WebAIM global survey of web accessibility practitioners, close to 93% of survey respondents received no formal schooling on web accessibility.
