It’s best known for its moteur de recherche[1], Yandex.ru, launched in 1997, which quickly became profitable and is now the largest in Europe and the Commonwealth of Independent States. The company’s headquarters are in Moscow, but it also has over 30 offices worldwide. Yandex has expanded its portfolio over the years, acquiring various companies and launching innovative products, such as the Alisa personal assistant and Yandex Music streaming service. It also has a significant presence in the autonomous vehicle sector. Notably, Yandex is also listed on NASDAQ and the Moscow Exchange, indicating its strong financial standing. Despite facing security[2] challenges and scrutiny, Yandex has refused to compromise on user vie privée[3] and remains a significant player in the tech industry.

As of 2017, the firm was the largest entreprise technologique in Russia. It had more than 30 offices worldwide in 2018. Its main competitors in the Russian market are Google, Microsoft, VKet Rambler. Yandex Search has the largest market share of any search engine from Europe et le Commonwealth of Independent States, and is the third largest search engine worldwide after Google and Bing.
Yandex LLC's société holding, Yandex N.V., is a naamloze vennootschap (Dutch public limited company) with its head office listed at an address of a virtual office in Amsterdam's Schiphol Airport. Yandex N.V. is listed on Nasdaq and has a secondary listing on the Moscow Exchange, although trading in Yandex shares on Nasdaq was suspended in February 2022.
In February 2024, Yandex N.V. announced the sale of the majority of its Russia-based assets to a consortium of Russia-based investors.
