The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) is an American business-focused, English-language international daily newspaper. Established on July 8, 1889, it has since made significant strides in the realm of print and digital journalism. The WSJ expanded its reach with the launch of Barron’s financial weekly in 1921 and further grew with the acquisition of the Ottaway newspaper chain in 1970. In the digital age, it introduced the WSJ app in 2004 and saw its digital subscriptions rise to 1.3 million by 2018. The WSJ has made notable design changes over the years and launched new features such as WSJ.com in 1996 and WSJ magazine in 2008. The newspaper, once controlled by the Bancroft family, was acquired by News Corp in 2007. It is recognized for its comprehensive coverage of international business news and financial news and has been recognized as the most trusted news organization by Americans in a 2018 survey.
