“Social Trends” is a historical publication that offers an extensive viewpoint of British society through the analysis of data on various socio-economic aspects. It was first conceived by Muriel Nissel and Claus Moser in 1967, and its first edition was published in 1970. The publication continued annually under the Office for National Statistics until 2010. The data collected covered diverse subjects such as housing, crime, income, wealth, transport, and population. In 2009, the publication transitioned from print to a fully online format, making the information freely accessible. Notably, the focus of “Social Trends” altered in 1975 to concentrate more on wealth distribution.
