Facebook[2] Privacy[3] Concerns refer to the various issues and criticisms Facebook has faced regarding its handling of user data and personal information. These concerns involve instances of unintentional exposure of user information, such as through connections, instant personalization[1], and the Beacon system. Users have raised issues about the public display of their information and the potential for data leakage, despite opting out of certain features. Additionally, Facebook’s privacy controls, such as post visibility control, tagging visibility, and photo consent[4], have been deemed inadequate. There have also been incidents of Facebook sharing private messages, contacts, and posts with third-parties without user consent. Moreover, Facebook’s acquisition of companies like Oculus and Onavo has raised further concerns about data integration and privacy. These privacy concerns have led some users to quit the platform altogether.

1. personalization. "Personalization" refers to the practice of creating or modifying products, services, or experiences to meet the specific needs or preferences of individual consumers. This concept, which dates back to ancient times, saw a decline during the era of industrialization and mass media, only to bounce back with the emergence of digital technology. Today, personalization is a key trend in various mediums, including print, mobile phones, promotional merchandise, and online platforms, with companies leveraging data and technology to offer tailored experiences. This includes the use of audience demographics, psychographics, behavioural data, and other data standards. Personalization plays a pivotal role in power dynamics, as it can be used to gain economic, political, and social influence. It also has significant social implications, such as the creation of "filter bubbles". Despite its complexity, the ultimate goal of personalization is to deliver offerings that align with individual tastes and habits, thereby enhancing customer satisfaction and loyalty.
2. Facebook ( Facebook ) Facebook, now known as Meta Platforms, is a major Internet company that started as a social networking platform. Founded by Mark Zuckerberg in 2004, Facebook expanded rapidly from Harvard to other universities and later to the general public, becoming a global phenomenon. It is known for its user-friendly interface and various features such as Groups, the Developer Platform, and Facebook Dating. Despite facing criticism for issues like privacy breaches and the spread of fake news, Facebook has remained a dominant player in the online world. It has made significant strides in the field of technology, including the development of its unique data storage system, the use of PHP for its platform, and the launch of the Hack programming language. In recent years, the company has shifted its focus to the metaverse, a virtual reality space where users can interact with a computer-generated environment.

Meta Platforms Inc., or Meta for short, (formerly known as Facebook) has faced a number of privacy concerns. These stem partly from the company's revenue model that involves selling information collected about its users for many things including advertisement targeting. Meta Platforms Inc. has also been a part of many data breaches that have occurred within the company. These issues and others are further described including user data concerns, vulnerabilities in the company's platform, investigations by pressure groups and government agencies, and even issues with students. In addition, employers and other organizations/individuals have been known to use Meta Platforms Inc. for their own purposes. As a result, individuals’ identities and private information have sometimes been compromised without their permission. In response to these growing privacy concerns, some pressure groups and government agencies have increasingly asserted the users’ right to privacy and to be able to control their personal data.
